The Droid Forums posted the flier seen above and it’s mentioned that Costco will be getting their displays on September 8th, and the phone soon after. When the Droid Bionic launches, reports indicate that you can pick up the handset from Verizon for a hefty $299 after signing up for a two-year contract. Or you could really get your money’s worth and get the Bionic via Costco, where the handset will be offered for the same price but bundled with a desktop dock, a car dock, an extra battery, and a charging station for said battery. The leaked flyer claims it to be over $150 worth of added value. Costco will begin receiving their Droid Bionic displays on September 8th, with sales of the phone starting shortly after.

More DROID Bionic Images Leak, Possible Lapdock Promo

Pop Herald has posted some leaked Bionic images said to be intended for an “online store”. They’ve reported these images to be the first clear shots of the Verizon logo and the new DroidEye, but you can also see a good shot of the back here and a live bootup showing the eye here if you missed them. What’s interesting to note about the article is the mention of a possible Lapdock bundle. A source reported that Verizon my offer a promo knocking down the price of the Lapdock, if purchased on launch day with the Bionic. You can catch a glimpse of the Lapdock right here. Droid 2 Gingerbread Changelog Published to Verizon’s Support Site, Update Imminent?

Verizon has outed the changelog to the long awaited Gingerbread update for the Motorola Droid 2 A soak test was supposed to begin this week, and very well may be under way, but it appears Verizon is inching closer to unleashing the new software version on the masses. The update will leave MotoBlur at build number 4.5.601 and add a whole slew of enhancements (too many to list here). Highlights include a newly blue Blur interface, customizable app drawer, and battery enhancements.
The update tops the scales at 106MB and should be on track to hit a handset near you soon, pending any major bugs. Head over to Verizon’s support site for the complete list of what’s new.

Motorola DROID 3 gets Root [Courtesy of XDA]

XDA forum member, dirbliss, has successfully rooted the Motorola DROID 3. It is as simple as using ADB shell to manipulate a few files.
The big news is that this method could work on the upcoming DROID Bionic. Lets keep our fingers crossed.
Full instructions after the break.
The Exploit
Log in to the device using “adb shell” and type the following commands:
mv /data/local/12m /data/local/12m.bak
ln -s /data /data/local/12m
Next, physically reboot the device by pressing the power button. When it wakes up, log in using “adb shell” again, and type the following:
rm /data/local/12m
mv /data/local/12m.bak /data/local/12m
mv /data/local.prop /data/local.prop.bak

The ro.sys.atvc_allow_all_adb property is a Motorola-specific configuration that prevents ADB from dropping its root privileges. Reboot the device one final time, and on logging in with “adb shell”, you should be presented with a root prompt. Enjoy!

DROID 3 One-Click Root Method Now Available

Feeling a bit daunted after reading the instructions for rooting the Motorola DROID 3 posted earlier? As with any phone with a great community behind it (read: most of them) the community has come together to make things easier for everybody. Spawned from a consortium of four individuals at RoozWiki is a one-click method for rooting the DROID 3. All you’ll need to do is download drivers, the script, plug your phone up with USB debugging enabled and making sure it’s set to “Charge Only”. From there, just fire up that .bat file and follow the on-screen prompts. Full instructions and links can be had over at RootzWiki (we prefer to link there in case anything changes in the future). Motorola Droid 3 Is Rooted

XDA Forums member djrbliss, otherwise known as Dan Rosenberg, has reportedly found a simple exploit to open root access on the Motorola DROID 3 Using ADB shell, a few files are easily manipulated granting super user permissions. While the exploit remains unconfirmed, instructions can be found at Rosenberg’s site (source link below).
The process could have implications for the unreleased Motorola DROID BIONIC a phone running on the same Android 2.3.4 build as the Droid 3. Root access could realistically be attainable out of the box for the highly anticipated superphone.

Motorola DROID Bionic receives a gift; No Samsung Galaxy S II for Verizon Wireless

At one time it was thought that Verizon would be the first U.S. carrier to get the Samsung Galaxy S II, and now it seems as though Verizon has decided to not carry it at all. It has been confirmed by the Wall Street Journal and  Brenda Raney, a Verizon spokesperson.
We know the Samsung Stratosphere is coming, but it will be an Epic 4G variant. Of course, rumors are that the Nexus Prime will show up on Verizon, and since it will most likely be made by Samsung, this could have contributed to the decision.
Ultimately I think it comes down to Verizon wanting to have the DROID Bionic and the iPhone 5 as their featured phones this fall. Verizon will put a lot of money into the Bionic and they have a strong relationship with Motorola. Many thought that if it weren’t for 4G LTE compatibility, the Bionic was dead in the water. The Galaxy S II has been declared the better phone and their is no question that it would’ve impacted the Bionic’s sales and success. With no Galaxy S II in play, the Bionic gets center stage.
I would love to hear from Verizon customers. What are your thoughts? I am on Verizon myself and was already leaning towards the Bionic because of the 4G LTE capability.

One-Click Root for Stock Gingerbread (Droid X, Droid 3, Droid X2, Cliq and Cliq 2) [From the Forums]

Earlier today we reported XDA forum member dirbliss had successfully rooted the Motorola DROID 3. Now, thanks to Framework43, krazykrivda, and psouza4 over at rootzwiki, we have an uber simple one-click root method for stock Gingerbread. I have tested this out on my Droid X running 4.5.602 and everything went flawlessly. As per P3Droid, this method should work on the Droid 3, Droid X, Droid X2, Cliq and Cliq 2. Here’s how it goes down, but proceed at your own risk:
Motorola drivers need to be installed – 32bit here and 64bit hereDownload and unzip ‘Droid 3 easy root script v7' from hereTurn on USB debugging on your phone by going to Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging(check box)Plug phone into your computer and select “Charge Only” modeNavigate to ‘Droid 3 easy root’ folder and run ‘Click to root your Droid 3.bat’Now just follow the instructions in the command window and unlock the phone after each reboot

The DROID HD could be called the Motorola Spyder and carried by Verizon Wireless

Recently we shared leaked photos of the DROID HD. We see a number photos of the Bionic which were also spied in that same article, but today we’re curious about the name of DROID HD. We really haven’t been able to find much information on this Motorola device.
Well there’s now bit more information that has come in. First it’s been confirmed that the DROID HD is indeed not the Dinara as we has previous thought. Instead the source says that the DROID HD is actually codenamed ‘Motorola Spyder’. This DROID HD could be considered kin to the Photon 4G.  As well as the new codename, this device should also be headed to Verizon Wireless, as it’s being reported that the Dinara is being tested on Verizon’s LTE. Where this device ends up we’re not positive. Stay tuned for any additional info that may come our way. You know we’ll pass it right along to our readers.

Leaked Verizon MAP Reveals Motorola DROID Bionic’s Pricing After 2-Year Agreement

The guys over at Droid-Life managed to snag this leak of a Verizon MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) listing Motorola’s upcoming DROID Bionic for the low, low price of $300 with a 2-year agreement. The leak also confirms that heavily rumored September 8th launch date. Yesterday we discovered the Bionic’s full price at $589 and it seems 300 is the new price point for Verizon’s premium handsets ever since the Droid Charge debuted a few months ago. Factor in taxes and you’re spending a pretty penny to have a piece of Motorola’s latest gadgetry. Can I see some hands of who will still be picking this up come Thursday morning on the 8th?
