Google Decides to Retire App Inventor But It Will Live On Through Open Source

The bad news? Google has officially announced that they will no longer be supporting App Inventor and will be closing the doors on this Google product sometime within the next 90 days. The good news? App Inventor will be given new life with Google open sourcing the code for all.
App Inventor was a tool provided by Google that allowed would-be developers to make an app with little-to-no programming knowledge what-so-ever. Most people used it to create “gallery apps” or even simple games like “WhackAMole” and submit them into the Android Market where they sat back, and watched the money pile up.

Rumor: Samsung Galaxy S II LTE (Celox) to Have Super AMOLED HD Display

HTC Once More Reports Record Sales

For the fourth straight month, HTC is reporting record sales with revenues of $45.11 billion. However, July’s sales did show a slowdown in growth after April saw $38.7 billion in revenue, May recorded $40.6 billion, and June topped out at $45 billion. Overall, revenue is up 83 percent from July of last year, though only a 1 percent increase over last month. High sales have no doubt been the result of a booming Android smartphone business that should see six to eight new handsets from the company in the third quarter of 2011 alone.

Paranormal Agency Released on the Android Market – Good, Hidden Object, Spooky Fun

Paranormal Agency was released onto the Android Market yesterday courtesy of G5 Entertainment. The game has been getting some pretty good reviews with it’s mix of puzzle and hidden object gameplay. There’s over 50 levels in the game with 7 different mini-games and 5 different types of hidden object challenges. I was actually surprised to find there’s a pretty engaging story here as well. You take on the role of a paranormal detective who solves cases using her special ESP skills to get to the bottom of the recent boom in poltergeist attacks throughout the city.

It’s Paranormal Agency’s visual art style that really drew me in, mixed with a great story and (harder than it looks) gameplay, I was hooked. It actually reminds me a lot of those touchscreen arcade games you find at your local bar. Protip: The game doesn’t scale well on qHD devices and although playable, it is slightly pixelated. You can download the game from the Android Market and play the first level for free, after that it’s up to you to decide if you want to purchase the full version for only $2.50.

Samsung Hercules for TELUS Spotted?

We’ve heard the name “Samsung Hercules” thrown around quite a bit now. It was originally believed to be T-Mobile’s variant of the Galaxy S II here in the states. Their version differed a bit from the rest of the pack, supposedly offering a 4.5-inch slate compared to the 4.3 inches seen on everyone else’s version.
