Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread Leaked For The Samsung Captivate

Back in June we saw Android 2.3.3 leak for the Samsung Captivate and the leaks just keep on coming. This time we have an official leaked build of Android 2.3.4 for the Cappy courtesy of Przekret over on XDA. I’m not going to tell you how to flash this (Odin) or even recommend that you try it out for yourself. Droid 2 Gingerbread Changelog Published to Verizon’s Support Site, Update Imminent?

Verizon has outed the changelog to the long awaited Gingerbread update for the Motorola Droid 2 A soak test was supposed to begin this week, and very well may be under way, but it appears Verizon is inching closer to unleashing the new software version on the masses. The update will leave MotoBlur at build number 4.5.601 and add a whole slew of enhancements (too many to list here). Highlights include a newly blue Blur interface, customizable app drawer, and battery enhancements.
The update tops the scales at 106MB and should be on track to hit a handset near you soon, pending any major bugs. Head over to Verizon’s support site for the complete list of what’s new.

One-Click Root for Stock Gingerbread (Droid X, Droid 3, Droid X2, Cliq and Cliq 2) [From the Forums]

Earlier today we reported XDA forum member dirbliss had successfully rooted the Motorola DROID 3. Now, thanks to Framework43, krazykrivda, and psouza4 over at rootzwiki, we have an uber simple one-click root method for stock Gingerbread. I have tested this out on my Droid X running 4.5.602 and everything went flawlessly. As per P3Droid, this method should work on the Droid 3, Droid X, Droid X2, Cliq and Cliq 2. Here’s how it goes down, but proceed at your own risk:
Motorola drivers need to be installed – 32bit here and 64bit hereDownload and unzip ‘Droid 3 easy root script v7' from hereTurn on USB debugging on your phone by going to Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging(check box)Plug phone into your computer and select “Charge Only” modeNavigate to ‘Droid 3 easy root’ folder and run ‘Click to root your Droid 3.bat’Now just follow the instructions in the command window and unlock the phone after each reboot

Samsung Fascinate 3G+ on TELUS Gets Gingerbread

Updates, fun fun fun! TELUS users that have opted to make the Samsung Fascinate 3G+ their device should be happy today knowing that the upgrade to Android 2.3.3 is now available, a testament to Samsung’s desire to improve their reputation regarding after-market update support. Another Thunderbolt Gingerbread Build Comes To Light 2.11.605.0 [Courtesy of XDA]

It seems like Gingerbread RUU’s are a dime a dozen for HTC’s Thunderbolt.  Just last week it appeared that an official Gingerbread build was closer than ever, however, if the 2.07.605.0 build was official, one would think we would have received it already or at the very least heard of it rolling out on a Thunderbolt near you.  As of now, we’re not sure exactly how many builds have hit the ground running for this device, but here’s another one for you anyway.  In RUU form, XDA member Football has released build 2.11.605.0.  Being an RUU (Radio Unit Upgrade) this means if you perform the upgrade using this build, your device will be completely wiped.  And as always, we caution you to do this at your own risk.  If you don’t know what you’re doing, get help from a more experienced nerd tech savvy, phone hacking guru.  After all that’s said and done, it’s obvious that at the very least, Gingerbread 2.3 landing on this device is still a pursuit, as developers are clearly still active with it.  And hopefully, in no time at all, we’ll see an official bug free build on the handset… soon.  Cross those fingers!

I don’t want to get too much excitement going, but with two official HTC Thunderbolt Gingerbread leaks out this week we must be getting close right? Just the other day we gave you the leak of build 2.07.605.0 (with install instructions) and now, thanks to Football over at XDA, you can download version 2.10.605.1 right here. New Gingerbread Build Leaks for HTC Thunderbolt

Another build of the Gingerbread update for the HTC Thunderbolt has been making its rounds among the Android developer community. The latest Android 2.3 build goes by version number 2.10.605.1, a slight bump up from the intial build leaked earlier in the week. The necessary files and instructions are available over at XDA, but given the freshness of this leak you may want to wait until the community at large has a chance to dissect it a bit. Install-friendly ROMs will likely follow in short order.

Gingerbread Goes Grandiose with Mobiado’s Grand Touch Luxury Handsets

By this point, we are fairly used to luxury brands producing Android handsets here and there, though exorbitant price tags are typically meshed with specs that you might find on last year’s mid-range handsets. For all the diamonds, leather, and gold plating its hard to imagine even multi-billionaires throwing money at these devices. Enter Mabiado, a company familiar with the luxury cell phone but new to the luxury smartphone. The handset they have managed to produce for once sounds like an appealing blend of luxury and function, but if Grand Touch series’ specs at all sound familiar chalk it up to a clever ruse on Mobiado’s part.
It appears they have simply taken an order of Nexus S handsets and outfitted them in precious metals and other pricey embellishments. The Grand Touch CNC is made of precision machined solid aircraft aluminum. The Grand Touch GCB is outfitted in 24k gold. Both feature their fair share of sapphire crystal accents. Both also feature a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 16GB of internal storage and run Android Gingerbread. Looking at the renders of the handset, there is no mistaking Mobiado’s starting point.
And how much might you spend for such a well-dressed Nexus S? Mobiado has declined to name the price outright, but we wouldn’t worry about it. This one is well out of your budget.

HTC Thunderbolt ‘official’ Gingerbread build leaks

HTC Thunderbolt owners have been wondering where all the Gingerbread love is. HTC told us to expect it this quarter, but who wants to wait?
There have been numerous leaks, but the latest build 2.07.605.0 appears to be the official build. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee it will be the final build because if it did pass through all the testing, we would see it pushed by now.
If you would like to give it a try, chingy510 has posted an untouched and a rooted version. Just hit the source link to download and follow the instructions after the break, compliments of rootzwiki.
Instructiions:
For the Full Untouched RUU:
1. Download and rename to PG05IMG.zip
2. Place on the root of your SD card
3. Reboot into hboot (White turned off hold power + volume down)
4. When asked if you want to update hit volume up
For the Rooted Versions:
1. Download and copy to anywhere on your sdcard
2. Wipe the phone completely (Data, Cache and Dalvik)
3. Flash how you would with any other rom in recovery

Gingerbread 2.3 for HTC Inspire 4G rolling out

HTC started pushing out an update to Gingerbead (Android 2.3.3) for the AT&T Inspire 4G yesterday. You can check for the update now by going to Home>Menu>Settings> AT&T Software Update > HTC Wi-Fi software update > Check now. It’s a good idea to make sure your important data is backed up before performing the update. This update will wipe all information from your device (any data on your SD card will be safe and sound).
