If you’ve ever wanted to find, share or just learn more about the world’s architectural masterpieces, this app is tops. After all, beautiful buildings are works of art. It’s time we learned to appreciate them.

Using crowd-sourced data from architects worldwide, the Buildings Android app makes it easy to access information about more than 40,000 structures. Developers claim this app is the most thorough database of its kind, and I can see why they think so.
To discover great works of architecture near you use the nearby tab. A prompt list of buildings and their relative distance from you will appear shortly. You can also search for buildings by architect or filter results by the type of structure you are looking for.
Once you’ve found a structure that looks interesting scan through photos, videos and detailed write ups for most of the entries. You can also share a building through email, Twitter or via Facebook. Add structures you are particularly fond of to your favorites list for easy access.
There are even more delightful features packed into this application, such as the option to submit your own photos of locals and a daily set of featured buildings that are sure to inspire even the architecturally challenged, such as myself.
I am excessively pleased with the Buildings Android app. It is a complete testament to the world’s current architecture, and more than that, this app is interesting. For example, now I know that there is a cellophane building in Brooklyn, and that Albania has a brilliant Mosque for All. The pictures were absolutely riveting.

Information is sorted neatly in three top tabs that are easy to access. Results are graced with photos when available, and the search function is ever present.
Practical Application
Other than appealing to artists, drafters and the occasional base jumper, I think the Buildings Android app is great for anyone who loves beautiful buildings. It might even improve experiences for travelers across the world.
It helped me see my hometown in a whole new way, and even discover a few nearby gems that I didn’t know existed. I definitely think the Buildings app is going to be a big hit.
