FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, has released an Android app just in time for hurricane Irene to work its way up the East Coast. The app has a bunch of useful information on disaster safety tips, planning emergency meeting locations, creating a supplies kit, and getting the latest news on upcoming disasters. This includes everything from hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, and extreme heat situations. I found the map section to be pretty useless and buggy (sometimes it wouldn’t even load), but there is a ton of other information in the app that could be quite useful. To check it out, you can grab the app here from our handy apps database. Screenshots from the app can be seen after the break.
